Gold-en chance missed but Swap Shopper goes on
 |
| My hopes for a quick handover of the Tony Hadley tickets have been dashed |
IT looked like I was about to complete my Swap Shopper mission this week - but my hopes have been dashed.
It's been a crazy few days in my little swap world. I've been put through the wringer and taken on an emotional rollercoaster - but now I'm back to where I was at this time last week.
The good news for all of you is the great Tony Hadley meet experience is still available.
I had a swap in place, a trade that would settle my challenge. A Tony Hadley superfan had made me an offer - the full £1,000 for charity in exchange for the chance to see her hero in concert and meet him.
With this lady being in America, arrangements were going to be complicated but it seemed to be a done deal, or so I thought.
The lady has had to pull out though. Alas, it just wasn't meant to be this time.
I was stunned when the offer came in and I'm a little deflated now it's fallen through - I was certainly brought down to Earth with a bump.
But the upshot is my quest to find a swapper for the chance to hang out with Tony Hadley is still very much on.
I'm still determined to make the best possible trade for what I consider to be a fantastic opportunity for two people to spend time with a celebrity who clearly still has many fans out there.
To recap, what's on offer is: Two tickets to see Spandau Ballet star Tony Hadley in concert at the Shepherds Bush Empire, London, on November 27 - plus the chance to attend the sound check before the show, meet Tony and have a drink with him.
All offers will be considered though I still feel the successful one will need to be very impressive considering what's being offered.
Email me at sbull@london.newsquest.co.uk or call 01689 885713.
I hope take two of swapping the Tony treat leads to a trade taking place.

Unfortunately James, the fact you chose to come on here, read this article and then post such a useless comment says more about you than about this challenge.
Personally I think this deserves to do well and I wish you luck with it.

I know what it's like to have your hopes dashed at the last minute, Simon. Sure it will all work itself out in the end though. Good luck!

Still, it will all work out in the end - offer Simon £1,000 for the tickets (being the top banana in Shopper Towers this'd be a mere drop in the ocean for you), then you'll have an additional selling point to attract a potential flatmate. You'll be inundated with offers, Simon will be able to sift the wheat from the chaff for you, excluding any psycho Hadley stalker types, and as my reward for making it all fall into place you can reveal the secret of who had the tickets to swap in the first place. Genius!

Excalibur, that would be a genius plan ... except for one major flaw. The identity of the tickets giver must remain a secret. Remember? All I can reveal is that she is now in the care of the Hadley Protection Programme and has since left the country.

Tick, tock, tick, tock..........time is running out, Simon. Mrs Bull won't be impressed if she has to accompany you to watch Tony Hadley on November 27! Reveal the id of the Hadleyphile, the news will spread like wildfire, ensuring loads of traffic through the website and resulting in the Swap moving forward again. You know it makes sense!

Hi Excalibur. Don't worry yourself, there's no need to panic. My wife possesses extremely good taste (well, obviously!) so I'm sure she would be absolutely thrilled to see Tony Hadley in concert and meet the great man. However, she's likely to miss out on that privilege as I'm currently mulling over a couple of very impressive offers which have come in. I hope to share some positive progress with everyone soon.

I do, of course, have wonderful taste. However, up until this swap came along I didn't even know who Tony Hadley was (to be honest, I still don't really). I'm sure there is someone out there somewhere who would be thrilled to have the tickets though. There are some really strange people out there.
